Almost there...

So the time is amost upon us;the inevitable return to Ponyville. The run of Schoolhouse Rock is done. It turned out okay. The cast was a fun group of kids and we made the most of a horrid script. I go back this coming Wednesday. First stop will be in Minneapolis to learn all the new pony tracks I have to learn,along with 2 other new cast members. We'll be working with Glen and Stephanie to get us up to speed. Stephanie is the original choreographer of the show and Glen is our new Performance Director. He replaces Chris,who's off on one of the Sesame Street tours w/Jamie and Sheila. For the uninitiated,Performance Director is sort of a cross between a stage manager and a dance captain. We'll spend a few days there and then head off to join the rest of the company in Green Bay. And the blog will once again be updated regularly!

Tomorrow I get to see my dear friend Elissa,who played Sweetberry on last year's tour. She's not returning to the company,seeing as she took the year off from school to do the tour. She's back at school now at Suffolk U. here in Boston. It's still hasn't really set in that it will be all new people when I get back.

A random side note - the college football season officially begins tonight. I never used to like college football,simply because they don't have a playoff and the outcome of the season is determined by an arbitrary vote,rather than winning. But once I got past that,I realized that it's one of the few sports I can watch completely objectively. I don't have a favorite team,nor is there any team I overly dislike. And having visited many of these college towns,I've seen firsthand what a terrific atmosphere it is. So I'm spending the evening watching Louisiana State beat up on Mississippi State. Makes me wish I had gone to a Division I school!

Mid-summer report

La Cage Aux Folles has closed. Quite a rousing success. It was a great group of people and we had a lot of fun. We ended our stay in Ogunquit with a benefit for Broadway Cares:Equity Fights AIDS. We all got together at one of the local gay bars and basically did a revue while we raffled off various items that many of the local businesses had donated. We ended up raising over $3000!
So I am now well into rehearsals for Schoolhouse Rock. It's okay. It's fun for nostalgia's sake,but the script is dreadful and the rest of the cast,although they're very nice,are VERY inexperienced. So it's coming very slowly.

Back to Ponyville in 4 weeks!
