Basking in World Series afterglow...

Monroe,Louisiana might be the most godforsaken place on earth.

Show's a little nutty these days. We're getting a new Rarity the Unicorn. Elizabeth came back last week, did 2 shows and promptly declared she couldn't do it anymore. Time for my rant here. Theatre is hard work. There are going to be times when you are performing a role that is physically challenging. Strains, bumps and bruises are all part of the territory. Granted, costume work is harder than most, but if you can't handle performing when you have even the slightest bit of discomfort, you need to get out of this business. Particularly when both your doctor and physical therapist say you are okay. End rant. It's unfortunate because she really was a nice kid,and very good in the role. So our new Rarity arrives tomorrow. Danny is still hanging around as a Ladybug. I think we have him for 2 more weeks. We also have a new sound tech. Ryan was one of the original crew and he just left for another job. He will not be missed. Not very competent, and VERY creepy! Our new tech,Beth, took over this week and it's amazing how much better the show sounds.

So,yeah, back to Monroe. The venue is small and dirty, and the hotel is infested with these little sand-colored salamanders, about an inch-and-a-half long. I've been having fun catching the ones in my room and putting them outside. A bunch of us managed to escape to New Orleans for the day on Thursday. 3rd time I've been there since Katrina and the street jazz is finally back! Half the charm of that city is the amazing dixieland music that you would hear from guys just wandering around the French Quarter playing. That was conspicuously absent from the last couple times I'd been there and now it's finally coming back.

Split week next week, Lake Charles LA and Beaumont TX.
