More Midwest
Howdy, all! Where was I? Oh yeah,Minneapolis. Well, after that we headed off to Bismarck ND and then Fargo ND. A little ways outside Fargo was a "haunted house" type place that I decided to check out along with Arlee,Miranda and Marissa. (For you longtime readers,Marissa replaced Sheila as one of the 2 Pinkie Pies) I was expecting something campy and fun, along the lines of the old SpookyWorld that used to be out in the woods on the Hudson/Marlborough/Berlin line. Some of you Massachusetts folk might remember that place. Well, this place left Spookyworld in the dust. Maybe one-eighth the budget yet ten times as scary. It was a good 40 minute drive from Fargo, out in the plains. One of those tiny run-down Great Plains towns in the middle of nowhere. They send you through woods,a cornfield, and an abandoned school. The atmosphere they created was legitimately terrifying. This place went out of it's way to make you feel as though you were trapped in a real-life slasher flick. Running and screaming were heavily involved. So if you ever find yourself in or around the Fargo area in Sep/Oct,I HIGHLY recommend a visit to Acres of Terror!
After Fargo we headed off to our 3rd straight split week, starting with Dubuque IA,which is not nearly as crappy a town as we were expecting. Some nice little cafes,as well as a small aquarium and museum about the history of the upper Mississippi River. Tim and I,along with our castmate Lisa(the new Wysteria) did a wildlife cruise around the river. There's also a great little winery a few of us went to. We're now in Ames IA,where I get to see my friend Sarah who I toured with 3 years ago and haven't seen in 2 years.
Next week - split week #4! Springfield MO and Fort Smith AR.
