Up and running...sort of

It has been an eventful couple of weeks. Rehearsals began for this show, and all those warnings I received about the intensity of this show...well,they weren't kidding! Without a doubt the hardest choreography I've ever had to learn. Given a reasonable amount of time,I can pull off most musical theatre choreography. But this...this is hard-core technical dancing! It also includes LOTS of running up and down stairs and ramps. And that's without a huge muppet costume. Bert's feel weigh about 5 lbs each, and his head is about 12-13 lbs. Don't forget,Bert has a tall, pointy head so it's quite top-heavy. Bert also likes to wear different hats in this show which just add to the weight. Very little air gets into the head as well,so breathing is difficult. To top things off, just as I started to feel like I was getting the hang of the costume and staging,I strained a muscle in my lower back. I got through opening but the doctor ordered me out of the show for a week. Luckily I have an amazing understudy. So I've been sitting in the hotel the past 2 days. I am feeling a bit better, and hopefully I'll be ready to go on Thursday. Assuming we have a show. We're supposed to play Mobile AL next week, but with the hurricane bearing down we're not sure if we're going to get there or not. We're going to make for Atlanta tomorrow and wait it out there.

Other than all that craziness,we have a very good cast. A few MLP vets and several vets of this show I hadn't met before, but had gotten the lowdown on from Jamie. The management team is all new to me,so I kind of feel like they think I'm causing trouble right away by missing shows.

We'll see if Mobile happens. If not,Atlanta the week after.
