A rare week with 3 days off in a row. Luckily we're in White Plains NY,so most of us took off to NYC for the break. I hadn't been to New York in a couple of years,at least not for any length of time,so it was great to be back. Got to see several of my NY friends that I hadn't seen in a long time. Most of the time I spent with my friend Jamie from tour just walking around the city and seeing what's changed since I'd been there last. Managed to see a few shows as well. Tuesday night I went with my castmates Tim,Sheila,and Carmela,along with our assistant costumer Amy to AVENUE Q. One of the funniest things I've seen in a very long time. Absolutely brilliant satire,raunchy as all get-out,but with a lot of heart and somewhat touching at times. And then yesterday Jamie and I went to the matinee of HAIRSPRAY. Lots of fun,great music and dance numbers,and much more of a social conscience than I was expecting. Campy,yes,but I adore camp! It was also very refreshing to see a cast that was clearly enjoying everything they were doing onstage. Unfortunately,you don't often see that in this business these days.
